Accommodation
Our
expeditions are primarily camping trips so for the most part of your
journey you will be sleeping in your tent. Quite often we will camp
by ourselves out in the bush or in the desert and other times we will
use designated camp sites with amenities.
The majority of our bush camp locations are usually very scenic and we always
strive to find the perfect spot at the side of a river, on a lakes edge or overlooking
a canyon etc. but sometimes, given the nature of our journeys we just have to
camp wherever we can find a spot, so you can expect to have the odd camp behind
a service station or when we just pull off the road out of the way at a convenient
location.
We provide a toilet tent for everybody’s use and also have solar showers on board so even when bush camping (without amenities) privacy and a shower are usually always available.
When we are not camping (usually in cities) we always try to use decent, clean budget hotels and hostels wherever possible and you can expect to share the whole way through. However, taking into consideration the very nature of some of our expeditions and the remoteness of some of the areas we visit, please be aware that in some circumstances we just have to take what we can get so you have to be prepared to take the good with the bad.
From past experience on expeditions of this nature we have found that
people prefer to supply their own tents as they are then not forced
to share and they can pick a tent that suits their needs.
You may want a tent that is great for 2 people (and nice and roomy
for one) but if you intend on hiking a fair bit by yourself you may
want something more compact. Look around and find something that suits
you. As a general rule, try and choose a good quality lightweight and
waterproof tent that is easy to erect, take down and carry.
